The Prodigy - “No Tourists” Tour 2018 - Support: Slaves

When we arrived at the hall just before 7pm, there was no long queue in front of the hall because the entrance was incredibly fast. The venue filled up quickly until the concert, but that was to expect since a band that wrote history invited you to celebrate and nobody wanted to miss that.

The pulsating mix of old-school Punk and guitar riffs of the noughties brings SLAVES 2015 with the debut, ‘are you satisfied?’, a fabulous surprise hit including Mercury Prize nomination. The successor, ‘take control’ (2016), is dominated by urgent distortion sounds and powerful drums, so the British let “pop on” for the first time on ‘Acts of fear and love’ (2018). Humorous and socially critical at the same time, the duo jokes in pointed lyrics about the infected Instagram world (“the lives they wish they had“) or settles with the UK government. /

Music & Performance
Isaac Holman (vocals, drums) and Laurie Vincent (guitar, vocals) come on stage and Isaac bares his upper body first. From then on, there was no quiet moment. Drum attitudes like Bon Harris, freaky dance moves on the guitar. A song contains the words “fuck the hi-hat” and due to the lack of this two drums and two cymbals are maltreated instead. Then off to the audience, shove, animate the crowd, back on the stage and continue the madness ride. SEX PISTOLS meet NITZER EBB and team up with Pop. More heating is not possible.

Music & Performance
They are considered as one of the best live bands ever and exceeds their standards tonight. That the current album is number #1 inspires the guys even more to a peak performance. Excellent light show with outstanding effects meets Techno-savvy Metal. People dance in the infield as well as on the tribunes and some even drop their clothes in their ecstasy. Each song is sung as loud as possible and the mood seems to break any scale. The new pieces fit perfectly into the older songs. The flash lights let the crowd twitch euphorically. If the sprinklers were to tackle now, you would have the opening scene of Blade I movie. The energy from the stage and from the audience is incredible. Musically there is not much to add: great, outstanding, indescribably beautiful!
