Just last year, THUNDER AND LIGHTNING released their 3rd record ‘In Charge Of The Scythe’, luckily we came to know each other over Twitter and so I had the opportunity to review their then current output. As it is the guys released a EP in September this year called ‘Slice of Life’ so I commented on that and had the luck to come into further contact with THUNDER AND LIGHTNING`s guitarist Marc. So it happens now that I find myself doing this interview and a review of their new EP.

Torul (mastermind) of Torul

From the beginning, Slovenian band TORUL was not just a fresh wave on the electronic scene, it was a breeze storm. Finally there is someone who showed: It is still possible to make something surprisingly new in this direction. Being young band with just couple of releases behind them, TORUL took its place near such acts as VNV NATION, MESH and DE/VISION. The new single ‘All’ which is going to be released on 10th of October is kind of teaser for the upcoming album. However the mastermind of TORUL assures: this song doesn’t fully reflect the concept of the new album. So let us be surprised once again. A bit shy and humble, as all the great minds, Torul told us what’s going on with his project.

Jesse Short and Greh Holger from Pure Ground

PURE GROUND is a duo based in Los Angeles, consisting of Greh Holger (also boss of the Chondritic Sound label) and Jesse Short (also in Brotman & Short). They are one of the most promising acts for the moment as they have created a style of their own that you could describe as minimal / body / industrial / power electronic music. They have released two cassettes, two 7”, one VHS tape and one compilation vinyl LP. Reflections of Darkness caught up with them in Brussels, the day after the concert they held at the Fantastique Night. Michael Thiel, aka Weyrd Son (from Weyrd Son Records), who helped to organize the interview, was also present.
