Since 1977, the SPIDER MURPHY GANG have been lighting up stages across Germany, earning themselves an enduring cult status along the way. Whenever frontman Günther Sigl, Barney Murphy and their bandmates take to the stage, every venue is transformed into a pulsating Rock’n’Roll club. Driven by energetic guitars, rolling boogie piano and an infectious love of performing, the band continue to deliver unforgettable live experiences.
Emerging from Munich’s vibrant music scene, the SPIDER MURPHY GANG embarked on an extraordinary rise to fame. With timeless hits such as ‘Sommer in der Stadt’, ‘Schickeria’ and ‘Skandal im Sperrbezirk’, they created songs that have long since become an integral part of German-language music history and continue to unite generations of fans at their concerts.
Despite numerous awards, gold and platinum records, and countless sold-out shows, the band have always remained true to themselves. To this day, the Spider Murphy Gang see themselves first and foremost as a live band. Whether performing unplugged or with a full rock line-up, their concerts are defined by authenticity, energy and outstanding musicianship. Günther Sigl not only captivates audiences as a charismatic frontman but also delights them with his humorous anecdotes. Another beloved highlight is the legendary banter between Sigl and Barney Murphy, whose on-stage exchanges provide no shortage of laughs.
Five decades of straight-ahead Rock’n’Roll have made the SPIDER MURPHY GANG one of Germany’s most enduring and distinctive bands. In 2027, they celebrate their 50th anniversary, marking the occasion with a major concert at Munich’s Olympiahalle on 30 October 2027. Joined by friends and long-time companions, the band will look back on an extraordinary career and celebrate five remarkable decades of music.
