AMORPHIS

AMORPHIS is definitely one of the most successful Finnish Metal bands. Founded 1990 in Helsinki, the formation started with Death Metal, but by integrating Progressive Metal devices as well as Arab and Finnish Folk music elements, AMORPHIS extended its stylistic spectrum soon. Not for nothing, guitarist Esa Holopainen suggested that suitable band name, as it was derived from “amorphous” which is another word for “shapeless”.

In May 2009, AMORPHIS released its ninth long-player `Skyforger´ that entered the top of the official Finnish charts and reached the #55 in Germany. At the moment, Tomi Joutsen (vocals), Tomi Koivusaari (guitars), Esa Holopainen (guitar), Niclas Etelävuori (bass), Santeri Kallio (keys) and Jan Rechberger (drums) are in great demand, as they are part of the line-up at the biggest festivals in Finland. In autumn, AMORPHIS will go on the extensive “Forging Europe Tour 2009” and play at the Aschaffenburg Colos-Saal on 21st October.
