After two pandemic-driven “reaction” albums - ‘Yay!’ (2023) and ‘Neigh!!’ (2024) - along with a few non-album singles and a compilation album, MOTORPSYCHO are back where we all know and love them: with an epic, sprawling double LP packed to the brim with inventive, organic, and ecstatic Rock music. Rejoice, Psychonauts!

This 11-track masterpiece, simply titled ‘Motorpsycho’, offers the variety and richness you’d expect from a band with such an extensive discography - now considered an institution in European rock. From punchy three-minute pop-rockers to 20-minute progressive epics, through acoustic intimacy and psychedelic freak-outs, this album is pure MOTORPSYCHOsis - launch sequence initiated, countdown underway. Closer… and louder than ever.

In April and May 2025, MOTORPSYCHO will embark on a European tour, including seven shows in Germany:
25.04.2025 – Berlin, Columbia Theater
26.04.2025 – Hamburg, Markthalle Hamburg
04.05.2025 – Hanover, Faust - 60er Jahre Halle
05.05.2025 – Bielefeld, Forum
06.05.2025 – Cologne, Gloria
16.05.2025 – Dresden, Beatpol (formerly Starclub)
17.05.2025 – Bremen, Kulturzentrum Schlachthof

As the classic 3- or 4-piece Rock band seems to be a dying breed, and MOTORPSYCHO have always been a band in flux, a new pragmatic era has begun in the Psychoverse. The band has been “dissolved and purified”, as the alchemists might say, and is now reduced to its two founding members, HMR and BS. While line-up changes are nothing new for MOTORPSYCHO, this time things are different - they now fully own and operate their label NFGS, which has become the center of all band activities. For the first time in 35 years, ‘Motorpsycho’ marks a permanent departure from any existing ties with other labels. If “freedom is being free from the need to be free,” then this is it - yikes!

The self-titled album is not only a bold statement but also a symbol of rebirth - a sentiment reflected in both the execution and the details. As the band puts it: “Senex psittacus negligit ferulam” - “An old parrot cares not for the stick.”

After two years spent consolidating and reorganizing, MOTORPSYCHO are ushering in a new chapter - with blaring fanfare (and no, trumpets don’t blast louder in the Psychoverse than on this grandiose return). Throughout the recording process, HMR and BS were joined by a stellar cast of musicians from the Scandinavian music scene, including: Ingvald Vassbø (drums), Olaf Olsen (drums), Mari Persen (string arranger / violinist), Thea Grant (vocals) and Reine Fiske (longtime honorary Psycho-brother). The album was co-produced by MOTORPSYCHO and Deathprod and mixed by the legendary Andrew Scheps. MOTORPSYCHO are not the best at what they do - they are the only ones doing what they do.
