Album Review

The Medieval-Electro pioneers HEMATAERDE continue the story of the previous album. And the most fascinating thing about it is that this is the real story. Are you into medieval stuff? You like Dungeons & Dragons? You have to check this band and the album out! From the beginning the band has its concept which covers all their albums. HEIMATAERDE invites to listen about the great journey with lots of challenges. Precisely ‘Kaltwärts’ (German for “into the cold”) tells the story of struggles of the brotherhood against the cold dark antagonist Zebaoth who wants to bring fear and horror unto the world. Isn’t it strange enough to imagine grown people pretending they were knights fighting against demons? Well, in some cases it could be a signal for experts in drug and alcohol abuse, but when it comes to arts – as crazier as better. Who knows maybe J. R. R. Tolkien was the most normal person in the world.

However it is more interesting how the musicians present their story. Musically, HEIMATAERDE is simply genius. Synthetic beats and deep sequencers come along with bagpipes, walls of guitars and choral chants. But this fantastic mixture has nothing to do with modern medieval bands. HEIMATAERDE created their original style. And even if you’re not into this kind of stories – their music alone is worthy to listen to. Sometimes the songs are accompanied by scenes of the audio-play. So don’t look around if suddenly you hear the steps or rustling of the fallen leaves – which sound hyper realistic. Also important to mention, all the lyrics are in German. So if you don’t handle this wonderful language, you’ll have troubles with following the story. As for German-speaking fans, they could be interested in the deluxe double disc version featured with a bonus audiobook.
