Detailed Review

The most important detail for the fans of course will be the main concert which is why I’ll start with that piece of video and audio shot on 26th April 2008 during a sweaty concert night in Berlin that starts with a short beat underscored intro seeing the band entering the stage and taking off afterwards with the first club sensation ‘Date of Expiration’ which is only the start of a mere string of FUNKER VOGT’s most loved hits from the early days up until the present day like ‘Thanks For Nothing’ Black Hole’ or ‘Killing Ground’ and Fallen Hero’ everything’s gathered up on the disc to cater for a never-ending fan pleasure. The video quality is extremely high as the band had the show filmed with various Hi Def cams including a camera crane and what shall I say the picture is crystal clear. The audio was mixed in a way so to capture both the emotions on stage and in the partying audience. The video cuts are not too hard or fast and shed light on any aspect of the show and band members. If one likes their music or not (And I clearly don’t) one has to admit that it’s technically a damn good work.

Now let’s move on to the second disc which has as the biggest video track a move giving you as pronounced admirer all the information you ever wanted as to how FUNKER VOGT lyrics are being created, under which circumstances the first album has been recorded, what the guys are up to on the road and much more. All that is decorated with tons of behind the scenes footage, stuff from the tour, little anecdotes and so on. Then to give you even more FUNKER VOGT LIVE than you’ve already got on the first DVD as a treat you’ll get more live material from the M’era Luna Festivals in 2002, 2004, and 2006. And last but not least there’s a bunch of fan interviews at the end and one or the others might spot a familiar face among the interviewed people.

So, as I already said on the technical side there’s not much to complain about really and I wouldn’t be surprised if a Blue-Ray disc would be released some time in the near future. Yeah, musically FUNKER VOGT was never the type of music that struck a chord with me, really. But this is intended as a gift to real fans and they can be fully satisfied with what they’re offered in this package. By the way the whole thing also is available as Double CD (Only the concert of course).
