Album Review

No one knowing the respective and mutual works of MISS KITTIN & The HACKER should be surprised to learn that a spirit of danceability is also inheriting the tracks on their most recent work ‘Two’, an apt title if you ask me, which is going to hit our auditory channels next Friday but let’s now start with the first track of the album ‘Womb’ starting with cascades of differently oscillating frequencies making you somehow feel like drifting through space until the crunchy beat sets in Kittin showcases on this track a pretty emotionless and cold vocal. Not my cup of tea but there’ll be others who’ll like it definitely. What is completely up my alley is the next track ‘1000 Dreams’ coming over with warm synth washes and very melodic, pleasant vocals. ‘PPPO’ toys and experiments with a little noise within the otherwise quite frigid atmosphere of this track! The ‘Party in My Head’ could as well become a party on the dance floor. The track has everything it needs. Warm synth melodies are back in the mix again and a little organic layer is woven over the chilly machine rhythms here.

It doesn’t seem like it in the beginning but ‘Indulgence’ becomes a really fast-paced matter a few more seconds into the track rather relying on a pushing instrumentation with harder-edged vocals than on mood. ‘Suspicious Minds’ is a track Elvis fans should be very familiar with. It’s a very poppy reconstruction of the track that’ll surely bring this track to new glance only for another generation. Very good chant on this one by the way! ‘Ray Ban’ roused my attention through its very dense mood crafted with multi-dimensional synth layers and haunting chant. The album’s closer is a spherical reprise of ‘1000 Dreams’ without any beat support. Something to drift away on like on water.

On ‘Two’ you’ll find diversified and at any time danceable tracks that are sometimes cold as ice and other times warm and caressing. Whatever you prefer of these two poles you’ll find enough tracks of both categories united here on one disc.
