Single Review

OBSCENITY TRIAL’s new single ‘Glück Auf’ will be the last stop before the upcoming third album ‘Soulstrip’ is going to surface in stores on 2nd October 2009. The single comprises 3 tracks all in all starting of course with the original version of the title track. This time a pretty slow-paced song has been chosen that is particularly suitable for home use. The beat is bumping almost in slow-motion while ringing drifts of beautiful strings, acoustic guitar, and piano hover above. Above all is Oliver Wand’s voice that has a slight Blues touch here through the effects applied on it. Apart from an instrumental version of the track, there’s also a rework included. It’s giving ‘Glück Auf’ an industrial tinge and pushes it away from its Synth Pop roots adding slightly darker atmospheric touches as well.

This last appetizer for ‘Soulstrip’ is much more to my liking than was the case with ‘Über’s Wasser Gehen’. A calm, not over-produced little gem that unfolds even better through the headphones! The remix is pretty decent work, but I still don’t see the necessity of the instrumental version. A b-side in the form of an unreleased bonus track would have been the better choice in my opinion.
