2025 marks the 30th anniversary of IN EXTREMO’s founding - and to celebrate this milestone in style with their fans, the six musicians will be hosting a major three-day anniversary festival from 4th to 6th September 2025 at the open-air stage on the Loreley. A host of friends and musical companions will join the celebration with live performances, making the birthday party an unforgettable one. IN EXTREMO will headline each of the three evenings, closing out every night with their unmistakable sound.
Frontman Michael Rhein had this to say about what promises to be one of the highlights of the open-air season: “We’re proud and delighted that so many top-class bands, minstrels and musicians have accepted our invitation to join us for these special days - and we’re sure this will be one of the most amazing concert experiences of 2025 for our shared audience. An event like this won’t come around again anytime soon, and we’re already full of excitement for what’s bound to be a magical weekend with our fans.”
Now well into their third decade as a band, IN EXTREMO continue to play at the very top of the international rock scene. Their 13th studio album ‘Wolkenschieber’, released in 2024, and the ‘Wolkenschieber (Ltd. Extended Edition) - Unter dem Blutmond LIVE’ both reached No. 2 in the German charts. They headlined Wacken - the world’s biggest Rock festival - and thrilled tens of thousands last summer on their self-created “Burgentour” concert series.
After acclaimed performances in South America, Spain, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, they wrapped up the summer of 2024 with a bang: the band’s very own “Weckt die Toten” festival, playing to 10,000 fans at a sold-out show.
From the very beginning, one idea has been at the heart of their concerts: celebration, togetherness and community. Whether at early medieval market gigs or large-scale arena shows around the globe - IN EXTREMO have forged a deep bond with their fans over three exhilarating decades. That spirit is immortalised on their 13th studio album, created by band members Michael Rhein, Sebastian Lange, Kay Lutter, André “Dr. Pymonte” Strugala, Marco Zorzytzky, and Florian “Specki T.D.” Speckardt.
With “30 Years of In Extremo - The Anniversary Festival”, the band will add another highlight to a career already packed with milestones - one of the most remarkable journeys in German music history.
