Thomas Elbern (guitar, vocal) from Escape with Romeo
ESCAPE WITH ROMEO, founded by Thomas Elbern in 1988, embarked on a journey blending Atari computers and musical ideas into reality. Their break-through hit ‘Somebody’ propelled them into the music scene, touring extensively across Germany and Europe. After a hiatus from 2018 to 2022, they returned with the compilation album ‘Based on a true Story’, rejuvenating their sound with guitar-driven Post-Punk influences.

Kilminister & Support: Nobody
Three people from Halle are on a mission to bring the music of MOTÖRHEAD and the power of Lemmy Rock’n’Roll to the people - and they come damn close to the famous original! Their name: KILMINISTER. A special highlight for them was a concert in 2013 in Berlin’s “White Trash” where Mikkey Dee, drummer from MOTÖRHEAD, sat down on the drums for the last songs of the concert - an accolade for the band, because Mikkey was very enthusiastic about the “German Execution"

Unter Schwarzer Flagge (Under Black Flag) with Alienare, Solar Fake, Solitary Experiments, Blutengel
Ahoy, pirates of the river Rhine! It’s Saturday, 20th April 2024. We’re on what moderator Jens Domgörgen calls “Europe’s biggest party catamaran. This thing is 90 meters long. It can fit 1,600 people.” We don’t have that many guests today though. The artists need their private space too. The available 1,370 tickets for today’s boat tour have been sold out for weeks.

Kettcar - “Live 2024" - Support: Shitney Beers
Hamburg Indie Rock band KETTCAR had been very quiet for a long time. Their last studio album ‘Ich vs. Wir’ from 2017 was followed by a tour and the live album ‘... und das geht so’ at the end of 2019, but from then on it was quiet around the band. It almost seemed as if the pandemic had pulled the plug on the band. But that was far from the truth: since the beginning of 2024, the Hamburg band have released single after single and finally a new studio album. ‘Gute Laune Ungerecht Verteilt’ even made it to #1 spot in the German album charts immediately after its release, clearly showing that KETTCAR are back.

Keane - “Celebrating 20 Years Of Hopes And Fears” - Support: The Sherlocks
It was clear to me that this concert would be something special as soon as I arrived at the venue. Not only did the license plates speak volumes - they came from all over Germany and neighbouring countries - but the languages at the entrance were a mix of German, Flemish, French, English, or even Spanish. KEANE had not been on tour for a long time and both concerts in Cologne were sold out. Originally planned for the smaller E-Werk, there was such a huge demand that the show was moved to the bigger Palladium and even an additional date was scheduled.

Morphose & Special Guests: audiocall
“Paths are made by walking.” Franz Kafka
So far, my concert reviews for Reflections of Darkness have focused solely on writing about DIARY OF DREAMS. The contact with the band has now become something very friendly, familiar; one knows each other, and capturing the mood becomes child’s play. However, to challenge myself a bit and to give space to the new, I have decided to take the plunge and write about two bands about which I basically know nothing or very little. MORPHOSE crossed my path briefly a while ago with ‘Spin the wheel’, but with AUDIOCALL, I had to start completely from scratch.
