hurricane southside 2021With great regret, the organizer FKP Scorpio decided to move the twin festivals Hurricane and Southside planned for this year as early as possible to 2022. This decision is due to the continuously dynamic infection situation, which makes the long-term planning necessary for safe large events impossible. The date of the upcoming issues has already been set from June 17 to 19, 2022, information about the line-up will be announced shortly.

The postponement follows the great efforts of the organizers to make open-air festivals possible as early as 2021. For this purpose, a broad front of the largest promoters in Germany and Europe had come together to create a hygiene and infection protection concept together with a committee of experts in consultation with virologists and hygienists, which makes major events possible even under pandemic conditions. The creation of safe rooms and the necessary test infrastructure cannot be implemented in the ongoing uncertainty, which also affects financial state subsidies and insurance for events. In order to protect the guests, artists and crew and, of course, in view of the ongoing dynamic infection process, FKP Scorpio decided to take this step with a heavy heart and continues to guarantee its guests fair solutions.

This also means that tickets for 2022 remain valid, which saves visitors an exchange process like last year. Of course, there is also the possibility of returning tickets if the festival visit in the coming year is unreasonable. Further information on this and all questions about Corona can be found in the specially set up festival FAQ from Hurricane and Southside.

CEO Stephan Thanscheidt comments: “To have to do without the Hurricane and Southside Festival for the second year in a row is a heavy blow for us. As in the previous year, we are doing everything we can to make the time until we see you again in 2022 as short as possible: through quick information on the line-up, transparent communication, good customer service and a digital replacement program.” CEO and founder Folkert Koopmans adds: “This incomparably difficult situation is a great financial and ultimately also a psychological burden for the company and the entire team. Hurricane and Southside Festival are among the highlights of our year that we have to do without a second time. We are therefore already looking forward to seeing our guests and acts again in the coming year.”
