On June 14, 2010, on the occasion of the 8th Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards ceremony at the Indigo2/O2 Arena in London, the award for inspiration was presented to Triptykon singer/guitarist Tom Gabriel Warrior (formerly of Hellhammer and Celtic Frost). The award was handed to Warrior by friend and peer Lee Dorrian of Napalm Death/Cathedral, who also delivered the award introduction.Warrior concluded his words of acceptance as follows: "In my opinion, however, I don't deserve this award. It should instead go to Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Angel Witch, and Venom, artists who have inspired me and without whom I would not be here tonight."
Further winners included Immortal, Mike Portnoy, Machine Head, Joe Perry, Bullet For My Valentine, Zakk Wylde, Heaven & Hell, Lamb Of God, Sir Christopher Lee, and others.
