Sting - “My Songs” Tour 2020

STING and his acclaimed “My Songs” tour come back to Germany in June and July 2020. From June 15 to July 20, 2020, the singer-songwriter performs in Cologne, Erfurt, Neu-Ulm, Halle/Westfalen, Berlin, Munich, Bonn, Würzburg, and Tüssling. Later in the year, the artist will play more shows, one of them on 14th October 2020 in Oberhausen!

“Sting: My Songs” is a jolly, dynamic show, that focusses on his most favourite songs and the successful career of the 17-fold Grammy Award winner during his time with THE POLICE and as an solo artist. Be prepared for a musical time travel with classics like ‘Englishman in New York’, ‘Fields Of Gold’, ‘Shape Of My Heart’, ‘Every Breath You Take’, ‘Roxanne’, ‘Message In A Bottle’, and many more. On that tour, STING is accompanied by an electronic Rock ensemble, which consists of Dominic Miller (guitar), Josh Freese (drums), Rufus Miller (guitar), Kevin Webster (keyboard), Shane Sager (harmonica), and the vocalists Melissa Musique and Gene Noble.

The composer, singer-songwriter, actor, author, and activist STING was born in New Castle, England. In 1977, he moved to London, and together with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers, he formed THE POLICE. The band released five studio albums, won six Grammy and two Brit Awards, and became part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.

As one of the most prominent solo artists worldwide, STING got additional eleven Grammys, two Brit, one Golden Globe, and one Emmy Award, as well as four Oscar nominations (including the nomination for “The Empty Chair” of JIM: THE JAMES FOLEY STORY of 2017), one TONY nomination, and the Century Award of the Billboard Magazine. In 2004, MusiCares designated him as “Person of the Year”. Furthermore, he is member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and he was awarded with the Kennedy Center Honors, the American Music Award of Merit, and the Polar Music Prize. The University of Northumbria (1992), the Berklee College of Music (1994), the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (2006), and the Brown University on their 250th anniversary (2018) granted him the honorary doctorate.

In the process of his brilliant career, STING sold almost 100 million records with THE POLICE and as solo artist. Following his highly acclaimed album ‘57th & 9th’, which is his first Rock and Pop collection for more than a decade, STING and Reggae star SHAGGY released a joint album called ‘44/876’ shaped by the island life and the many surprising connections of their music.

The title ‘44/876’ refers to the country codes of their homelands, and mainly expresses one thing: their love to Jamaica, which is the fatherland of SHAGGY, and from where STING wrote his classic ‘Every Breath You Take’ from THE POLICE. The release directly went number 1 of the German charts, number 10 in Great Britain, and the album stayed in the American Billboard Charts for 20 weeks. It then was honoured with a GRAMMY for best Reggae album.

Recently, the current album ‘Sting: My Songs’ containing contemporary interpretations of his most famous hits was released. Directly after that, STING started his world tour of the same name; a jolly, dynamic show with the most popular songs he created with The Police and as a solo artist. A special edition of ‘My Songs’ was released in November 2019 containing a CD with live performances of the “My Songs” world tour.

On May 22, 2020, Sting starts his guest performance series ‘My Songs’ at “The Colloseum” of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, where he performs a selection of songs, accentuated by visual references to his most impressive videos and inspirations. STING acted in more than 15 movies, took over production management for the critics-acclaimed movie ‘A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints’ (in German: Kids - In den Straßen New Yorks), and in 1989, he played one of the leading roles at the Broadway in ‘The Threepenny Opera’.

His current theatre project is the TONY nominated musical ‘The Last Ship’ that is shaped by memories of the shipbuilding community Wallsend at the Northeast of England, where STING was born and where he grew up. The show with his music and lyrics was performed at the Broadway in 2014/ 2015, and in 2018, there was a theatre tour across England.

In spring 2019, STING himself played the role of shipyard foreman Jackie White in the production ‘The Last Ship’ at the Princess of Wales Theatre in Toronto. The same role he plays at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles (Jan 14 - Feb 16, 2020), at the SHN Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco (Feb 20 - March 22, 2020), the National Theater in Washington, D.C. (March 27 - April 5, 2020), the Ordway Center in St. Paul (April 8 - 19, 2020), and at the Detroit Opera House in Detroit, MI (April 22 - 26, 2020). For further information about the international “Last Ship” tour, please visit www.thelastshipmusical.co.uk.

STING’s support of human rights organizations like Rainforest Fund, Amnesty International, and Live Aid reflects his universal solidarity. Together with his wife, Trudie Styler, STING founded the Rainforest Fund in 1989, to protect the rain forests and the native people living there. The couple organized 18 benefit concerts to collect money for the endangered resources of our planet, and to point the finger at global problems. Since foundation, the Rainforest Fund has grown to a network of organizations linked with each other with branches in more than 20 countries on three different continents. Visit www.sting.com to learn more. The next concert of that kind takes place in December at the Beacon Theater in New York.
