Few other European Rock bands have reached as many milestones as THE RASMUS. Over several decades, the Finnish band have repeatedly evolved their sound and helped shape an entire genre. THE RASMUS formed in the mid-1990s as a school band in Helsinki. Frontman Lauri Ylönen founded the group together with bassist Eero Heinonen, guitarist Pauli Rantasalmi and drummer Jarno Lahti. After several line-up changes, they quickly attracted attention in Finland with their distinctive style.
From the funk-influenced beginnings of their debut album ‘Peep’ (1996), THE RASMUS steadily developed their sound and are now known for atmospheric, almost anthemic Rock. Their international breakthrough came in 2003 with ‘Dead Letters’ and its hit single ‘In The Shadows’. Millions of records sold, multiple platinum certifications and music awards, and international tours followed. The band have kept moving ever since, continuously releasing new music and reinventing themselves along the way.
With their latest album ‘Weirdo’ (2025), THE RASMUS open a new chapter. Its lyrics revisit themes that have run through their career: identity, being an outsider and the feeling of not belonging. Musically, they combine dark atmospheres, memorable rock choruses and modern sounds in their own unmistakable way.
What has always set THE RASMUS apart is their stage presence. Their shows thrive on dynamics, energy and a tangible closeness to the audience. Whether on major festival stages, international tours or special appearances such as their charity concert at the Atlas Festival in Ukraine, THE RASMUS know how to bring people together.
At the beginning of 2027, audiences in Germany will finally have the chance to experience exactly this intensity live again across six shows. On 18 February 2027, the “Weirdo Tour” stops at Kulturzentrum Schlachthof in Bremen, with opener WOLFRAM and support from ATLAS.
