IO, Widespread Lingo + Special Guests
Germany was shocked in 2003 by the break-up of the most successful German Alternative Rock band of all time. The GUANO APES outlived themselves; the sum of the parts didn’t fit together anymore, but repelled itself. An era with several successful albums showing you can actually have great success with honest; energetic rock music had come to its end. It wasn’t an easy farewell – neither for the band nor their fans, still there’s a new beginning to every end and so bass player Stefan Ude, Drummer Dennis Poschwatta; and guitarist Henning Rümenapp came back together in the studio only three months after the official split with no intention of forming a new band back then.
A period with many artistic encounters and breaks until in 2006, Dennis met soul singer Charles Simmons had a few chats with him and the result was the genesis of IO, who played over 50 live shows ever since, which had significant influence on their debut album ‘For The Masses’, which they’re going to present at Bochum’s Matrix on 19th February 2009.
