Review Flash

My good mates of ARCANE TYRANT gave this piece of music to me and said they would appreciate it if I cover this other project called DRAGON FODDER, an experimental solo instrumental project by Curtis Beauchamp with ARCANE TYRANT’s Dustin Moroz on guitar and bass (bass track on song number two and five). For the drums they used an outdated copy of superior drummer 2 so their drummer is basically a Robot. Composition-wise this I in the like of both artists main band: progressive, unwieldy, crazy and full of raw energy. Sometimes the shredding dissolves the melodic superstructure but knowing these guys I know that is exactly what they planned. You have to listen closely and you have to do it over and over again in order to understand the narrative and the general direction and rhythmic transitions, this is no simple shred-fest even if the first impression might hint at this conclusion. DRAGON FODDER tracks are more than once so full of different directions and melodies that other bands could extract three tracks out of one but this also serves the overall composition and the musical style of the Edmonton duo.

Conclusion: If instrumental journeys are your thing you should give this a go and check out their main band ARCANE TYRANT too.
