Review Flash

The maniacs from IDOL THRONE hail from Highland, Indiana and they have been around since 2018. Yes, we are speaking of a young band but don’t be fooled by the short amount of time that IDOL THRONE have been around as the members are well known from bands like WRAITH (drummer Aaron Grove and guitarist Jason Schultz), QUIETUS (guitarist Martin Bowman) or MONOLITH (vocalist Jake Quintanilla) and XENOPREDATOR (bass man Trevor Kuta). Sure, some of those bands are underground gems but we love those right? ‘The Sibylline Age’ is the band’s first full-length to date and it’s glorious! It has all sorts of different inspirations and vibes; it is hilariously melodic and very, very old-school in every sense of late 89s to early 90s Thrash Metal.

‘Sacred Fire’ for example has that certain John Bush-era-Anthrax kinda feeling to it and that alone is enough to make me want to buy shit and throw my money at someone. The mix between Thrash and Power Metal also has a bit of US Metal kinda style to it. Rhythm-wise there is also a bit of Progressive Metal in there. There are little parts in the track ‘White Wolf’, maybe the perpetual rhythm in the background, that reminds me a bit of 3 INCHES OF BLOOD (check it out you will definitely hear it). I cannot await to hear what these guys do next because I can see a bright future for IDOL THRONE. ‘The Sibylline Age’ was mixed by Lukas Roth (WILDHUNT) at Lukas Roth Sounds and mastered by V. Santura (OBSCURA, TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS) at Woodshed studios in Germany.

Conclusion: A fucking rad piece of American heavy music with enough filth to keep the elite on the edge of their seats. BUY THIS!
