Blutengel, Adam
BLUTENGEL disunites the German Gothic scene; there are many fans who like the band's danceable songs and catchy melodies as well as its vocalist Chris Pohl - who is also quite successful with his other electronic projects TERMINAL CHOICE and TUMOR. But there are others blaming the band of being too shallow concerning both music and lyrics, and of flirting too much with the mainstream. This autumn night BLUTENGEL were to appear in the Rockfabrik Ludwigsburg, and though they surely are not my favourite band, I had decided to give them a chance, as I had never experienced them live before.

Within Temptation, The 69 Eyes, Delain
Founded 1997 in Dutch Utrecht, WITHIN TEMPTATION released the debut album ‘Enter’ already one year later. With their bombastic Goth Metal, the band immediately conquered the hearts of people all over Europe. After singer Sharon became mother last year, the band kept it quiet. But in March 2007 they were back with the new album which was presented on several festivals during summer and now also in the clubs all over the continent. Besides four other German gigs, the band played the E-Werk in Cologne on 10th October, supported by Finnish THE 69 EYES and Dutch DELAIN. When I arrived just 30 minutes after opening, I still had to pass a very long queue telling me that the venue must have been at least nearly sold out.

Dreadful Shadows
It was a very spontaneous decision for me, but I couldn't miss the opportunity to see this band. Actually I thought I would never get the chance because the band had split up; and so I was really surprised, when I read, they would go on a tour together again. When I got to the venue, there was already a mass of people, standing in line and waiting for the doors to open.

De/Vision, Michigan, Intuition
They brought home the bacon! DE/VISION - one of the most famous Synth-Pop bands - came to their hometown Berlin. On Sunday the 07th October 8:00 PM was the last concert day of their NOOB-Tour. At the baggage they had two wonderful backings: INTUITION and MICHIGAN. I think most of you know them because they are the companion for the last part of their tour. The fantastic three played at the Columbia Club. A little hall apart from the bigger Columbia Halle, where Within Temptation rocked the day before.

In the Nursery, Coppelius, Agonoize
Yeah, my first DDT as a complete non-smoking area! I’m a big fan of the new law and it was very pleasant, visiting a concert without smoke. This time, the location wasn’t as filled as the last time, but there were still enough people to make it a fantastic evening and night. Due to the fine weather the outside area was still open and so you could take a deep breath of fresh air (or a cigarette-break). In the outside area you could also meet the members of all playing bands and dance on the “Medieval floor”.
