CAISARON is the name of a German electronic trio founded in 2006 and now adding to their discography the follow-up EP ‘Tief in Mir’ to the overly successful debut album ‘One Way’ dished out in September 2007.
One aim of this EP is to conquer the dance floors and for sure it will accomplish that goal as lots of the original material on this disc, namely ‘Deep inside’, ‘Two Souls’ and ‘Wenn der letzte Tag verblasst’, has exactly what the ever hungry club crowd wants to hear nowadays. A massive amount of straight 4/4 beats, a few anthemic melodies mixed in as well and two pleasant (but not outstanding or special) voices to top it all off. But CAISARON also presents a mellow and calmer face on the EP with the two titles ‘Diese Bürde’ and ‘Liebe in mir vernichtet’ both of which are exploring a dark and melancholic melodic spectrum grounding on very specious down-tempo rhythms.
Besides the original six compositions of CAISARON there’s a whole bunch of remixes from several musical peers both of tracks from the debut and the current EP nearly all focussing too much on the club-compatibility of the mixes for my liking instead of trying to do a real rework and adding really a new perspective on the song, whereas I can only say that about the remixes of the EP tracks as I don’t know any of the album’s material. One mix that really does stand out for me is the ‘Letzte Instanz RMX’ by M. Stolz with its playful violin touches, the wonderful string arrangements, and elaborate rhythmic construction
CAISARON rely on established structures with this EP and don’t risk anything with the material the listener gets presented here. I have n doubt that it’s going to appeal to many, many people. But it’s nothing for my collection.
