Album Review

A few months after the album release of 'A Sense Of Loss' the result of a process of collection ideas on how other artists might interpret those is being released as 'Reconstructing A Sense Of Loss', not the actual feeling but the tracks it was captured in and that made the album an endless road covered in grey. It all begins with 'A Moment Worth Bleeding For', the atmospheres bleak, the prospects dark and its beats crushed into pieces that disperse on impact. There's a hint of danceability added to 'The Unthinkable' and its desperation-filled whisperings. The unbearable pain is kept at a distance for the fraction of a second. While we are 'Staring At The Impeccable Victim', it occurs to us that there are moments of mild grace hidden behind the shadows covering everything around while a current of noisy electronics reaches out to us. 'The Inevitable Sense Of Loss' is drawing close now; nothing there to hold it back, really. With crystal clarity its unfolding now in ambient soundscapes to be carried by fragments of beats.

A symphony of elegy comes with 'Don't Worry It's Too Late' shrouded in wistful piano lines and bleeding violin. 'In A Place Where Fear Resides' sort of continues from there on, only that it does add a completely different backdrop with a slightly distorted, rumbling rhythm section. 'Hold Tight' is just pure beauty. It swims in texture and melody and puts less effort in constructing too much of a twisted rhythm sensation. One favourite amongst the mixes. There's but two renditions of 'The Crucifixion Of Disbelief' following now, only to point out their substantial differences. Where the first one concentrates on thick ambience, the second one buries everything under layers and layers of noise, making it a sound bit that'll take long to digest. The collection ends with two extremely lengthy pieces of drones, atmosphere and subtle rhythm. Something to bridge a long ride!

The conclusion to this album can only be a positive one. This is actually how I'm picturing a remix album. As a playground for ideas that didn't fit the original record's context, a place to tear a song apart and put it back together in a different way.
