placebo this search for meaningPlacebo have announced the release of a 4-disc deluxe version of ‘This Search For Meaning’ via SO Recordings on September 12th with live and unreleased bonus material.

The elaborately designed deluxe set in a six-panel digipak combines everything a fan’s heart desires: the acclaimed band documentary ‘This Search For Meaning’ on Blu-Ray and DVD, two captivating live audio CDs from ‘This Is What You Wanted - Live In Mexico City’, and an expanded bonus edition of their current studio album ‘Never Let Me Go’, including a powerful cover version of the TEARS FOR FEARS classic ‘Shout’. As a special extra, an exclusive fold-out poster booklet is included.

The documentary ‘This Search For Meaning’, impressively staged by award-winning Scottish director Oscar Sansom, celebrated its highly acclaimed cinema premiere last year. The film is an intimate and insightful journey into the world of thought that underlies the lyrics and themes of Placebo's songs – tracing the band's evolution as both an artistic collective and as individuals. Courageous, honest, and relentlessly direct, the documentary takes an intense look at the creative process and the Rock’n’Roll lifestyle - with all its inevitable consequences.

Profound and moving at the same time, interviews with the band members provide fascinating insights into Placebo's ongoing socio-cultural curiosity and their musical journey - a journey that continues to be reflected in chart successes and sold-out arena shows worldwide.

In addition to interviews with the band, there are contributions from other significant figures in art and culture who either admire PLACEBO or have been inspired by them. These entertaining and often emotional conversations are presented as a single, yet multi-layered, conversation - featuring personalities such as Shirley Manson (GARBAGE), Robbie Williams, YUNGBLUD, Rebecca Lucy Taylor (SELF ESTEEM), Joe Talbot (IDLES), and contemporary artist Stuart Semple.

The result is as honest as it is touching - an impressive reflection on how we all try to find our place in this world - and perhaps also to understand it a little better.

The film’s narrative structure is supported by impressive live performances of songs from the current album ‘Never Let Me Go’, recorded exclusively for the documentary. These special recordings were created at the legendary Twickenham Film Studios in the UK - the same location where the Beatles are seen creating a new album in Peter Jackson’s ‘Get Back’.
