Danko Jones - “Is what you need Tour” - Special Guests: Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts
The Canadian band DANKO JONES is back and heading to Germany for a whopping seven dates as part of their Good Times Tour. They’re bringing support with them, aiming to heat things up with TUK SMITH & THE RESTLESS HEARTS as special guests. Formed in 1996 in Toronto, the three-piece band has dedicated itself to the noble art of riffs, melodies, and life-affirming rock anthems.
Over the past 25 years, DANKO JONES has built a massive international fanbase and become one of the most celebrated live bands - loved by mainstream radio rock fans and die-hard metalheads alike. With ten critically acclaimed studio albums and an unsurpassed repertoire of exhilarating songs, they’ve solidified their place in the rock scene. Albums like ‘Born A Lion’ (2002) and ‘Below The Belt’ (2010) showcase their versatility and unwavering ability to hit the rock sweet spot. In the last decade, DANKO JONES has shifted into a higher gear, especially since frontman Danko and bassist JC teamed up with drummer Rich Knox.
Their recent albums, including ‘Fire Music,’ ‘Wild Cat,’ and ‘A Rock Supreme,’ have led to intense touring and an uncompromising commitment. Last year, they released their eleventh album, ‘Electric Sounds’ - proof that even a global pandemic couldn’t stop DANKO JONES. The album immediately has the sound and feel of a classic.
From the cheeky self-assurance of the opening track ‘Guess Who’s Back’ to the muscular new-wave swagger of ‘Good Time’ and the title track, which promises to ‘smash a thousand guitars tonight,’ the album shows the band in top form. Guest appearances from Tyler Stewart (BARENAKED LADIES), Damian Abraham (FUCKED UP), and guitarist Daniel Dekay (EXCITER) complete the picture. DANKO JONES sees ‘Electric Sounds’ as a continuation of their previous work, though this album might be a bit faster than its predecessors.
Although the original idea was to craft all songs in the style of the sprawling, mid-tempo, and heavy ‘Cadillac,’ the album evolved in a more diverse direction during the writing process. Yet the lyrics remain true to their typical themes: rocking, the desire to rock, enjoying life while rocking, and sometimes singing about a woman. Even after 27 years of DANKO JONES’ career, the trio’s dedication continues to grow, and their popularity is steadily rising, so much so that their last tour in Germany was completely sold out. If you want to celebrate with DANKO JONES, you should buy tickets for one of the shows now.
