Album Review
DANKO JONES… that guy is to name in one breath with words like egomania, self-mockery, sharp-tongued… or to keep it simple: pure Rock! It’s been two years since DANKO JONES released their last album ‘Below The Belt’. Now it seems that ‘Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue’. Well… to be honest, I don’t get the sense of this title, but WHAT I get is that nothing really changed (except the drummer!). DANKO JONES are rocking from the first note. Although they’re suffering a bit from “excursions to mainstream” as you can say so, now they recollected their values!
Rock has to be pure, filthy and loud – and that’s what ‘Rock And Roll Is Black And Blue’ is! Ok, there’s a kind of rusty start, but the more this release is going on, the more it’s rocking. From Garage Rock and Punk to Blues lines… everything find its place within the sarcastic and ironic frame that is filled up with clichés. Conclusion: If LYNYRD SKYNYRD know what a guy needs to rock and roll, why DANKO JONES shouldn’t? Beer, chicks and some dirty and impulsive music lines: It’s only Rock and Roll… and I like it!
