Album Review
LES TAMBOURS DU BRONX is an industrial / urban project. It was born in a heart of a district of railway and factories, the sounds of machines and workers became an existence for those musicians. LES TAMBOURS DU BRONX began twenty eight years ago, and it keeps spreading and bringing more and more urban noises. It is impossible to overestimate its role in modern music. The drummers shared the stage with Robert Plant, KORN, SEPULTURA, METALLICA, recorded an album and made several live acts with a philharmonic orchestra.
Of course in twenty eight years, the band has changed a lot of members, as well as live and studio bands and sets of instruments are different. Today, LES TAMBOURS DU BRONX is a sixteen-head band. Aside to drummers (normally there are fourteen drums on the stage), there are musicians responsible for samples and keys, plus guest-singers. All together, they bring sounds of war, omen, factory, Halloween, erotica and many more. From time to time there are different touches in the percussion canvas: you can feel techno, industrial, synth and rock vibrations. As if the whole musical universe would shrink into a double album. This project is unbelievable, massive.
‘Corros’ is a life-time trip, a journey through the world's clockwork: from pre-historic metal moaning, through industrial and human revolution, to the brave new world. On this journey you might feel a bit crazy, sometimes horny, and sometimes you just want to smash all around along with the urban anthems of the LES TAMBOURS DU BRONX. The most recognizable tracks are surely the ones with the vocals - and now 'Human smile' - the collaboration with Jaz Coleman (KILLING JOKE) should be highlighted. Since most of the tracks consist of a wall of smashing, breaking, beating rumbles, and the melodies are naturally designed with the help of percussion with slight touch of synths, 'Kaiowas' is another outstanding track, as it was provided with a nice guitar rhythm. Although this album is not for every day, but if you get this piece of art in your hands – don't hesitate to listen to it!
