LIFE’S DECAY is a French project that Lyktwasst started in 2003, from the beginning he was alone in this project but in 2005 Alea came along. LIFE’S DECAY has released five albums before their new album ‘Dysrieuses’.
To do a review of French record when you don’t speak French is an interesting thing since I like to listen to the lyrics and to know what the person is singing about. When I was younger I listened to some Chinese, Celtic and Italian music so I know that I don’t have to understand the language to appreciate the music. It was interesting to just let go of trying to understand what Alea was singing about and just simply enjoy and listen to the beauty of her voice, hear the nuances of it and how she is using it differently through the songs on the album.
Some of my favourite songs on the albums are ‘Eabelia’, I like the way this one simply flows musically, ‘Etesse’ which has a capturing melody and it feels like the song builds up into something more... ‘Inkerosa’ has cool drums and a different sound. All through the songs on ‘Dysrieuses’, very good melodies, interesting and fascinating music leads you on like a red thread.
