Album Review

Martin Kilger? Never heard of him…hmmm... let’s see, who this guy really is! No wonder at all, that this young guy is an artist unbeknown, always standing in the second row. After winning a prize advertised by Joy Fleming at the age of seventeen, it seemed that German music-scene waited for such a talented musician. Instantly Martin Kilger began his career as a sub-keyboarder in bands like SÖHNE MANNHEIMS, NINA HAGEN or ZOE. Since 2007, he supported SÖHNE MANNHEIMS as a solo artist and with his band even Joe Cocker. Now it was time for his solo-debut…

‘Wofür ich steh’ is an album with a diversity I scarcely heard. From Reggae to Rock with a lot of pop-songs and ballads within, this release is a solid piece of music and reflects the work of a unique young artist. Therefore it’s a little bit disappointing that I am missing a little bit of self-confidence throughout the songs. Songs like ‘Blut geleckt’ lent on Lenny Kravitz´ ‘Mama said’ lacks of the certain dash of power this songs honestly should have… Nevertheless, Martin Kilger is definitely an upcoming artist in German pop-scene. Don’t miss out on him!
