Album Review

STRANGE ATTRACTOR is Richard van Kruysdijk (Sonar Lodge, Phallus Dei) and Niels van Hoorn (The Legendary Pink Dots) who came together in 2004 and released their debut album ‘Everything Is Closer’ in 2006 which is now being re-released. They quickly made a name for themselves. The collaboration of both musicians naturally evolved into a “real band” and STRANGE ATTRACTOR became their main focus amongst their many different projects.

This music takes some time to get used to (at least for me) before getting more into the whole musical adventure that this album is. I like the artistic feeling and sound that the songs have, but must honestly say that some of them are too much for me. I like the song ‘Omega’ where a fragile and beautiful sounding female voice caresses my ears in good harmony with the music. ‘Never Say Never’ is one of my favourite songs on the album, it’s dark and interesting; the male voice creates a different and special song. Some of the parts of this album have a laidback and relaxed feeling that creates a soothing atmosphere that I enjoy being in as well as parts with more beat - it’s complex and the more I listen the more I like it.
