On 26th June 2010 starts a new era of the annual event summer with the E-tropolis Festival at the famous Citadel Spandau in Berlin. As a pure electronic open air event the E-tropolis Festival presents the best of EBM, (Cyber-)Industrial, Synth- & Electropop as well as the alternative dance-scene. As such already the first edition offers a stellar line-up of international top-acts. Along with the furious Mexicans HOCICO and the Swedes of COVENANT also the norwegian-american industrial bulldozer COMBICHRIST, the Danish EBM legend LEÆTHER STRIP and the industrial pioneers KMFDM announced their live appearance. In addition to that now the first of the two remaining programme positions was set with another bullseye confirmation:NEW BAND ANNOUNCEMENT: DAF !
Groundbreaking in sound and word DAF have been an influential force in the music landscape for more than 30 years now. Paving the way for the „Neue Deutsche Welle“ in Germany and counting to the originators of the electronic music genre, DAF already stirred up the early 1980´s with cutting lyrics and powerful beats. All time classics like „Der Mussolini“, „Der Räuber und der Prinz“ „Verschwende Deine Jugend“ or „Als wärs das letzte Mal“ claim their rightful place among the timeless achievements of the „Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft“. Still today DAF inspire with their indistinguishable sound, like Gabriel („Gabi“) Delgado-Lopéz and Robert Görl impressively underlined with their last Fulltime Album „15 neue DAF Lieder“ in 2003. Minimal held electronica, accompanied by profound lyrics, in which the message often hides in the words left unspoken, confirmed the functioning success formula, generating a maximal result with minimal means.
The E-tropolis Festival 2010, with its impressive location, will be the perfect battlefield in the „30 years of war“ of a band who created marvellous music, while still managing to become iconic for an entire movement.
