With every edition of Graspop Metal Meeting, we try to strike a balance between the various genres to satisfy the expectations of all you metalheads out there. With just twelve bands to go, the provisional lineup is already a great mix of styles and a perfect marriage of tradition and innovation. Unfortunately we haven’t been able to announce our final headliner yet but we should be able to put your impatience to rest within the next few weeks.
In an effort to keep your insatiable metal hunger in check we’re announcing eleven new names below, including a few bands that will be making their Graspop debut. AIRBOURNE hails from Melbourne and with ‘No Guts, No Glory’, the Aussie foursome has released a worthy successor to ‘Runnin’ Wild’! Airbourne stands for rancid Aussie pub rock and great solos! AC/DC copycats, you say? Maybe so, but not one to brush aside lightly because these boys are just too good to be ignored!
On 29 March, RAVEN are releasing their long-awaited new album. The British threesome burst onto the scene in 1981 with their debut ‘Rock until You Drop’ and many of today’s metal giants list Raven as one of their influences. Bands like Anthrax and Metallica first toured as openers for Raven. The new CD is entitled ‘Walk through Fire’ and offers a mix of the tried-and-true Raven ingredients. Also confirmed: THE DEVIL’S BLOOD, EVERGREY, DARK FUNERAL, SYLOSIS, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, ELUVEITIE, HELL YEAH, KATATONIA and FINNTROLL.
Day tickets sales will start as soon as the final headliner has been announced. The final schedule will also be posted online at that time.
