STEENWIJK – A new festival for those who appreciate dark electronic music is held for the first time on July 30th in De Meenthe in Steenwijk, the Netherlands. With a.o. Skinny Puppy (industrial) and Das Ich (industrial/electro), Gothicfest managed to get two big names to come to its first edition. The Canadian Skinny Puppy and German Das Ich are joined by Mindless Faith (electro-industrial-crossover, USA), Destroid (electro, DE), Angelspit (industrial rock, AUS), Dismantled (industrial/electro/rock, USA) , We Got This Far (industrialized rockcore, USA), Misery (electro, NL), Contrast(electro, NL), Contrast(electro, NL) en The Chaos Industry (noise-electro-industrial, NL) in Steenwijk to make De Meenthe tremble with their beats. DJ X-X-X, known from the Summer Darkness festival in Utrecht, and DJ Hidden help them do that.

"The special thing about this festival is that it takes place in the North of the Netherlands. The big names stand out, too", says festival organiser Rene Brugmans. "Most of the time these names only come to the bigger venues or bigger festivals, like Summer Darkness in Utrecht, Amphi in Germany and the Belgian Gothicfestival." To be able to firmly establish the festival right at the first go, Gothicfest collaborates with the Dutch gothic moguls, Cybercase and Gothtronic. In addition to the bands, there will be a cyber-electro-gothic market at Gothicfest. There will also be a relax room, to catch your breath in between bands. DJ Grains of Sound is the first DJ confirmed to spin at the relax room.
