THE PRODIGY are the unquestioned superstars of British club culture with 20 million sold records worldwide. Their unique mix of techno, rave, big beat, jungle, Drum’n’Bass, acid house, punk and electronic Hardcore has found millions of fans regardless of the genre for more than 20 years. They are the only ones who won an MTV music award for “best alternative act” and “best dance act” in the same year. The British trio came back impressively with their current record ‘The Day is My Enemy’ on 27th March which immediately stirred up the international charts, landed in the top 10 in Germany and Austria as well as Switzerland and reached the very top in their British home country. Backyard Babies – Peder Carlsson, Johan Blomquist, Dregen and Nicke Borg, born same year, same town, Nässjö, southern Sweden – have returned to action after a five-year hiatus. It was with a laughing and a crying eye that we read the announcement for the current Blackfield Festival. On the one hand, Beborn Beton are able to introduce their new album „A Worthy Compensation“ there, as they have been added to the line-up in the nick of time, and are looking forward to hitting the big Amphi-stage on June 14; on the other hand, this could be the final Blackfield ever according to the organiser. The great amphitheatre is going to be used one last time this year, and moving to a different location in the future is well possible, which we as Gelsenkirchen-based label particularly regret.Source: Newsletter
