Although the band and its management officially denied week after week that a split was imminent, they now issued a statement announcing that it is over, for good. A first sign that things were no longer all that smooth between the band members was a confirmation by bassist Peter Hook to BBC 6 Music at the beginning of May saying that the band was no longer. According to New Order's spokeswoman Jayne Houghton back then Bernard Sumner was completely unaware of a possible split adding that "Hook mixes up everything again".
