One Night in Bochum - Art meets Classic meets Party - An exclusive DEPECHE MODE Event!
The works of Dutch photographer Anton Corbijn combine music and art in an impressive and unique way. For numerous musicians, amongst them international stars like Johnny Cash, Miles Davis and Tom Waits, he was way more than just a photographer. Corbijn accompanied bands like Joy Division, U2 and Depeche Mode for decades and he was taking big influence on their image building process. Besides album cover it’s also his music videos staying unforgotten - just remember A Question of Time, Strangelove, Behind the Wheel, Personal Jesus and many more. So, what could be more appropriate than combining music and large-sized black and white prints at the art museum Bochum?
On 27th July, Michal Matejčík will open the evening. In the unique atmosphere of the exhibition room – so to say close to the stars Corbijn portrayed – Slovakian artist will play his harp and interprets the most beautiful hits of DEPECHE MODE in a very new way on this classical instrument. His love for classic music and also for DEPECHE MODE are melting together in an extraordinary way. He even impressed Martin L. Gore, songwriter and guitarist in DEPECHE MODE, that much that the British cult band invited him as support for their album release event in Vienna. There, Matejčík was celebrated by the usually very critic DEPECHE MODE fans.
After the concert, the motto of “One Night in Bochum” will be “Waving Hands” during ‘Never Let Me Down Again’. The museum is turning into a party location inviting to celebrate along to DEPECHE MODE songs and related music. The DJ team Nightdash and Grey will deliver the beats until the early morning hours. Whoever needs a break from dancing, can charge batteries with a cool drink or little snack… or take the chance to see the whole Corbijn, that will already end at the following day, exhibition at night.
