MESH, support: UNI.FORM and MEDIEVO
In February 2010 I had the chance to see MESH performing at the above mentioned venue together with a friend. Well, of course we are kind of hardcore fans but furthermore it was a chance for a short holiday trip. Barcelona is a perfect place for sightseeing, so much amazing architecture especially the Gaudi buildings. And as in Germany it still was a dark, cold winter it was a chance to escape the ugliness and enjoy the warm and sunny weather. The venue Sala Bikini is a nice club/ discotheque situated at the main street close to a shopping mall not far from the city centre.
But back to the concerts now: what you can expect is a vibrant atmosphere as the Spanish fans are really enthusiastic and full of temper. They celebrate the bands, their music and they celebrate themselves. The evening will start with a kind of newcomer founded in 2012. MEDIEVO, I guess it’s a Spanish band but don’t nail me on that as I couldn’t find much information and my Spanish is more than worse. But they are singing in Spanish. Their music, too, is strongly influenced by the cold Electronic sound of the 80’s reminding me partly of the sound of the early songs of THE HUMAN LEAGUE, FAD GADGET/ FRANK TOVEY and the like. http://www.medievo.org/ / https://www.facebook.com/medievos
The following band will be UNI.FORM a band from Lisbon founded in 2006. They describe their sound as Post Punk/ Indie Rock but you can clearly hear their influence from several bands of the 80’s like BAUHAUS, JOY DIVISION, THE CURE and DEPECHE MODE. Headliner of the evening is MESH of course. They have performed several times at this venue already. With a bunch of new songs from their current album ‘Automation Baby’ that are perfect for dancing and singing and hopefully some of their old songs which are working perfectly for live shows, too, they doubtlessly will get the crowds going. I am quite sure that the audience will be great at singing the lyrics with MESH.
