Kingfishr - “Halcyon Tour 2025”
Some bands take years to make a name for themselves, others hit the scene like a bolt of lightning. Indie folk trio KINGFISHR undoubtedly belongs to the latter category: they quickly rose to chart phenomenon status and are currently considered one of Ireland’s hottest bands.
KINGFISHR was founded in 2022 in the small town of Limerick, but the band’s story began earlier. Eddie Keogh (vocals & guitar), Eoghan “McGoo” McGrath (banjo) and Eoin “Fitz” Fitzgibbon (bass) met in 2017 while studying at university. Their first songs were written in a small corner of McGrath’s parents’ dairy farm - a place where stories were once brought to life at the kitchen table after long days of work.
This storytelling tradition also shapes their music: KINGFISHR combine Irish storytelling with atmospheric indie rock, carried by Keogh’s distinctive voice and catchy melodies. Their debut single ‘Flowers-Fire’ already attracted attention in 2022, and with the follow-ups ‘Eyes Don’t Lie’ and ‘Heart In The Water’ they sparked unprecedented hype. Their debut EP ‘Shadow’, released in 2024, cemented their position: even before the release of a full album, the band had recorded over 100 million streams and quadruple platinum status for their hit single ‘Killeagh’.
On 22 August, the eagerly awaited debut album ‘Halcyon’ was finally released - as before, written, recorded and produced entirely on their own at their parents’ farm. The album feels like a “best of” compilation of their journey as a band so far, combining early releases, big hits and new songs into an emotional body of work. It impressively showcases KINGFISHR’s talent for turning personal experiences into universal stories - full of nostalgia, change and love.
Those who only know KINGFISHR through streaming services have a lot to look forward to live. Whether supporting DERMOT KENNEDY, GEORGE EZRA and even the legendary BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, at major festivals such as Glastonbury or Electric Picnic, or at their own concerts, KINGFISHR thrill audiences with their intense presence and natural charisma. Their live album, released in 2024, provides impressive proof: without any grand staging, they create a captivating, rousing concert experience.
And in autumn, they will finally return to the stage - with four exclusive concerts in Germany. Four evenings during which some in the audience will wonder why they haven’t already planned their next trip to Ireland.
