ORANSSI PAZUZU combines the awesome powers of a colour of orange and demonic entity, which presides over the wind. Hailing from Finland they present ‘Valonielu’ to engulf the listener in spaced out Black Metal. Fusions and experiments can indeed backfire and seem like empty attempts to mark the band distinguishable and original but refreshingly this is not going to be a case here – it succeeds. The tenets of Black Metal are reconstructed to give it new aspect - orthodoxy in any way gets to be stifling and heretics, though hated by some, give it a new lease of life. The connection to psychedelic rock do plunge it into a dreamy and trippy areas at the back of your mind, which can be explored music-induced rather than druggy.
Conclusion: It won’t be everyone’s cup of tea – it can really feel heavily dark and overpowering, allowing to feel one something of a weight that Sisyphus was pushing upwards, but those who enjoy something different should find something interesting here.
