Review Flash

Essentially just German composer Markus Hof, THE FLOOD are indeed a bit watery. Vocally weak at times, this brand of electronic pop isn’t memorable or engaging enough to leave much impact. Okay at times like on the glowering ‘Never Wanted’, the prettiness of ‘Sunrise’, or the knowing nod to retro on ‘Back In 1989’, but there’s too much filler, not enough hooks and an air of self-satisfaction throughout that isn’t really justified. Vince Clarke likes them apparently, ho-hum.

Conclusion: A few songs rise to the surface, the rest sinks like a stone.
