Review Flash

Sometimes things come together that are quite unlikely: me reviewing something that is labelled Melodic Black Metal and an output with a single song lasting 38 Minutes and 25 seconds! SHORES OF NULL is a band from Rome, Italy formed in 2013 and ‘Beyond the Shores (On Death and Dying)’ is their third LP but the first one-song for a full album experiment. Vocal-wise this is sometimes extremely my thing and sometimes it is hurting my ears (that’s what Black Metal does to my body). Davide Straccione is a really capable frontman and manages to really surprise me every here and there (I lack the knowledge to make fitting comparisons to other bands because I don’t care for extreme metal but I can state that these guys know their craft). If this album would lack growls, I would be in seventh heaven musically but every-time I start to relax Straccione growls again and agitation steam-rolls over me. I think if this is what they have planned for their audience they do pretty well.

Conclusion: If you have a weak spot for lead-heavy compositions and a mix of clean singing and growls you should take a sip of this extremely black brewage.
