Review Flash

When it comes to groove metal PANTERA is king but every now and then a new band tries to seize the throne and kill the king. Brooklyn’s THE UNBROKEN try exactly that and, even in failing to release something as strong as “Cowboys from hell”, they make a fierce first indentation. The vocals are mostly harsh but in an extreme Metal kinda way, Chester shouts as if there’s no tomorrow while sharing riff duty with Mark, Jeff beats and batters his way forward paving the way together with Tamas on bass. “I never Forget” is a heavy tune leaning towards the old-school of thrash (METALLICA is an audible influence here, aside from the vocals). The modern aspects of THE UNBROKEN’s sound is the downside in the overall musical concept for me, there is SLIPKNOT to be heard but also a bit of DISTURBED and the approach to unique vocals, as successful as it is, is not my cup of tea as I like classic, melodic singing.

Conclusion: If you just want something rough and modern for a change you should check this out.
