Review Flash

GALAXY is an Heavy Metal band that was formed in 2017, yeah that wasn’t that long ago but these guys sound so darn old-school that you instantly think you listened to them twenty years ago already. After their critically acclaimed 2019 EP ‘Lost From The Start’ the Melbourne five-piece took their time to assemble a debut full-length to top their first output. Phillip T. King’s vocals might remind you a bit of KING DIAMOND every here and there but musically this is more JUDAS PRIEST or a heavier version of bands like THIN LIZZY. Phil’s voice is very distinctive and special, not always flawless but that is definitely part of the bands charm, just like a rough diamond. Just as always Dying Victims Productions seemed to have a sixth sense for the next underground jewel. Musically this has everything an underground connoisseur needs: compelling melodies and riffs, strangely mesmerizing vocals and a strong rhythm section. Check out ‘Firelight Palaver’ if you dig KING DIAMOND memorial vocals and thick THIN LIZZY vibes. I, for one, cannot await for gigs to come fully back so we can all check bands like this out and raid the merch-stands...

Conclusion: A decent contender for full-length debut of the year.
