Review Flash

As a few of our dear readers already know I do have a knack for Doom. Old-school, melodic, harsh, theatrical or just plain evil: I do not care because I love most variations as they all have facets that manage to push the right buttons. SPIRITUAL VOID is no exception to the rule, the German three-piece hailing from Lake Constance (Bodensee) are a prime example of how to do it the right way. ‘Wayfare’ is the second full-length output of SPIRITUAL VOID and it has all the trademarks of a great doom record. The tracks are slowly dripping out of the boxes like tar, the vocals (sometimes clear and summoning, sometimes harsh and aggressive) are sparse and Rob really takes his time with them, the drums are sluggish as hell and the overall experience is something between hypnotising and really exciting. The band is around since 2013 and I guess this one will reach quite a few parts of the underground, I can only state that any kind of success these guys will get because of the new output is well deserved.

Conclusion: If the throne of Doom is about to be inherited anytime soon, I think these guys will have to be taken into account.
