Album Review

German metal heads AXXIS have decided to celebrate their 20 years of being together in a brand new way instead of heading out on the road, like most bands tend to do. They've decided to release their brand new LP ‘Utopia’. Having a play time of over 12 minutes in length you not only get over 12 metal rocking minutes but get 11-tracks to hold it altogether. The title track seems to do most of the damage when it comes to the beginning of the album. That being said, instrumentally speaking the guitars do most of the work, blending against the vocals that seem to clash into one another more than once.

‘For You I Will Die’ along with ‘Underworld’ each displays more vocal parts than instrumental at first glance, causing a total uproar of clashing effects that tend to occur more than once. Like when the instrumentals do their part in ‘Underworld’ their ability is shown and seems to take up most of the songs playtime not allowing the vocal chords to do their job. While ‘For You I Will Die’ seems to have the same formula but twists it slightly doing a combination of vocals and instruments. When it’s all said and done, a constant effect of musical violence is put into play that never seems to want to fade away.
