Right from the first start of ‘Standing and Waiting’, I was already convinced by ENSTRIDE. Great vocals, awesome guitar sound and loads of power jump right at you. With a slight influence of DISTURBED, they really know how to hit the nerve of independent rock fans all over the world! ‘Standing And Waiting’ displays all the skills this band has to offer. Singer Justin convinces instantly with all the varieties in his powerful and strong voice. Somehow, his voice reminds me a little of Brent Smith (SHINEDOWN) which makes it exactly the kind of vocals I can totally fall in love with.
The second of the 3 songs is ‘Parasite’, which kicks off with some nice guitar work and an intense performance of Justin's voice. Shortly after that, the song literally erupts and reveals everything that was hidden underneath the surface. The vocals are supported by some pretty intense growls of drummer Steve. In the middle of the song, everything slows down and the focus is placed on the whispering vocals which instantly give you goose bumps. Probably one of the best songs I’ve listened to for quite some time!
‘Wings’, the last song of the album, starts off pretty slow with an acoustic guitar and beautifully continues with discreet drumming and incredible vocals. Soon, however, it gets a little harder but still maintains a overall fragile and soft mood. The chorus pleases with its quickening instrumentation and lots of emotions in the vocal delivery. Also, some nice breakdowns can be heard throughout the song. Justin’s voice also gets the chance to show more of its range up to really high pitches. My suggestion: Just sit back, close your eyes and enjoy all the facets of this beautiful song.
All in all, there’s just one thing to say: Great songs, great sound quality (although it is an independent release), great band! I highly recommend this record to all fans of bands such as SHINEDOWN, DAUGHTRY and PAPA ROACH.
