Rise Against, Sleeping with Sirens, Pears
Two years after their last show in Luxembourg at the Rock-A-Field Festival, RISE AGAINST played on Friday night in a nearly sold-out Rockhal. As support act, the band brought two US bands, SLEEPING WITH SIRENS and PEARS.
Pears
Opening the Friday evening was PEARS from New Orleans, Louisiana. The band was formed in early 2014 by Zach Quinn and Brian Pretus. PEARS debut album ‘Go to Prison’ was self-released by the band. The band is currently signed to Fat Wreck Chords and released their sophomore album, ‘Green Star’, on 1st April 2016. http://www.pearstheband.com / https://www.facebook.com/PEARStheband

The early coming crowd was curious about the band. They came on stage in time and lead singer Zach Quinn was instantly full of energy which was transferred slowly but surely to the audience. Unfortunately, the sound for the opening act wasn’t as good as expected for the Rockhal but maybe that’s because the engineer wanted to fit to the genre of the band: Hardcore punk. All in one, PEARS was a good opening act and prepared the crowd very good for the next support band: Sleeping with Sirens.

Sleeping with Sirens
SLEEPING WITH SIRENS is an American rock band from Orlando, Florida and was formed in 2009. They released their first album, ‘With Ears to See and Eyes to Hear’, in 2010. But on Friday night they presented their new album. ‘Gossip’ is the fifth studio album by the American Rock band. The album was released on 22th September 2017 through Warner Bros. Records and follows the band's fourth studio album ‘Madness’ (2015). http://www.sleepingwithsirens.net / https://www.facebook.com/sleepingwithsirens

After a short change of the set the fans already shrieked before the band was even on stage. But when they were, the crowd was unstoppable and moved much more than before. Some fans even shouted the lyrics with Kellin Quinn and others even opened up a mosh pit. Their presence on stage was full of energy. Quinn has a remarkable voice that sets the band apart from others, which is what makes SLEEPING WITH SIRENS so fascinating.

Rise Against
On the 9th June, RISE AGAINST released their 8th studio album ‘Wolves’ which was the reason why the band organized a tour. In the last 18 years, the band is known for songs like ‘Savior’, ‘Prayer of the Refugee’, ‘Satellite’ and ‘Hero of War’. The quartet from Chicago is notorious for being political active, especially during the election for US-President Donald Trump. The lyrics are in many places directed against Trump and his constituents. http://www.riseagainst.com / https://www.facebook.com/riseagainst
Music & Performance
At exactly 10pm, the background music stopped and the light dimmed. A stunning light show began in front of the audience. The time finally came, after two years the Luxembourgish crowed finally saw their favourite punk band again. The quartet came on stage and the people instantly raised up their fists and shouted: ‘Rise!’ Starting their set with ‘Chamber the Cartridge’ the crowd was out of bounds. They jumped and sang along with Tim McIlrath. The setlist was well chosen. There were a lot of songs the people knew and to which they singed along. The most songs came from the albums ‘The Sufferer & the Witness’ and ‘Appeal to Reason’. But there was also a ravishing moment. The song ‘Survive’ was dedicated to Chris Cornell (✝May 2017) and Chester Bennington (✝July 2017). This brought goose bumps to many people.
They ended the night with ‘Survivor’ but in the eyes of the people, it was recognizable that they wanted more. To sum up, it was a successful evening. PEARS was a good opening band which prepared the people good for SLEEPING WITH SIRENS. The latter was also a great support act and the people were ready to give all their power to RISE AGAINST who delivered a great concert.
