Album Review

This is a very impressive mix of Synth metal and electro rock, spiced up with a dash of industrial. The album was mixed by Dave Ogilvie who has cooperated with such stars as NINE INCH NAILS, SKINNY PUPPY and MARILYN MANSON. To be honest, there is a lot of it here, but you won’t be disappointed, the album sounds fresh and interesting. Fourteen tracks all seem to be well thought through and original enough, although every now and then you will get the feeling of “I’ve heard it before”. In all fairness, it’s hard not to in the hard times of post modernism! You will recognise the rage of NIN, the energy and twist of MANSON and even the unique vocal line of Maynard James Keenan (ESCAPE). However, it all makes sense.

Of course, some of you will probably say that it’s crucial to be 100% original. I agree. But nowadays it’s almost impossible to be original without using tools that have been given to us by others. And this is what RAGGEDY ANGRY are doing rather impressively by using the genre’s heritage as a base to create tunes and melodies we have never heard before. I think another shining star may be rising. For some reason, I get the feeling that not everything is totally serious here. Maybe I’m wrong or just too cynical but ‘Robot Love’ made me laugh as hell. My favourite track is definitely ‘Sick Thoughts’ - the intro is a smart reminder of VELVET ACID CHRIST but the whole track is just too catchy not to love it! Anyway, check it out yourself. This album is something you really should listen to because this may be the first time you’ve heard about this band but definitely not the last!
