A classically trained composer and instrumentalist, Zinovia Arvanitidi from Greece, delves right into the realms of electronic music creation with its unlimited possibilities and the second outcome so far has earned nothing but positive reactions. Entitled 'The Gift Of Affliction', the album is her first release for newly joined label Tympanik Audio. Her area of expertise lies within the sphere of emotionally-charged soundscape creation without the need of drifting into the aggressive at any point throughout the record. 'The Blue Shade Of Dawn Covered Your Skin' leads into the new record floating on a breeze of gentle textures and piano and putting you in a suspended state of weightless caught in the middle of a nexus of melody, whereas on 'Communicating Vessels', a symphony of haunting beauty unfolds in cavernous atmospheres and splinters of classic and jazz begin to connect.
A graceful kind of sadness is taking shape within 'Entangled', oozing from the keys, conquering the piano within seconds and filling your entire perception in seconds. That feeling kinda gets implanted, so you're tempted to revisit those landscapes again right after the song has faded, and you will. Just minor keys and some laid-back string as a backdrop. Sometimes that's all you'll ever need to create a piece of music which is captivating as soon as the first notes hit your ears and place you in a mournful mood; this is called 'Attached, Our Eyes Wide Open'. 'Beneath A Stellar Sky' actually was the first track to hear off the new album. It's already hinting at what would be coming soon and kept its promise, embracing the classic, the electronic and a slice of world music. 'A Time To Make Amends' marks the end of a journey bringing the listener a film noir feeling; the echo of a moment that went largely unnoticed long ago and which is being revived musically in beauty...
