eisbrecher tourverlegung2023EISBRECHER have to reschedule their tour planned for autumn 2022 - the new dates will now take place in early summer 2023. The reason for this is the starting position, which is still difficult to plan.

The band expresses itself with a very personal statement:

“All bad things come in threes! It breaks our hearts but there is no other option. With the new decisions of the federal and state governments on Corona, we now have the sad certainty that everything we all don’t want when it comes to live shows can come over us at any time, out of nowhere: tests, mask requirements, distance rules, number of visitors limited!

After a live summer of superlatives, now the sober statement: The ‘new normal’ means: Corona madness ‘from O to O’ (Easter to October) and the narrow rest of the year (end of April to end of September) is released for real live life, without restrictions, in the hall and on the green field. We’ve all experienced it in 2022. We have five months a year (exactly those five months in which no band wanted to tour before) for everything that we used to have 12 months available for.

So, this coming fall, it’s always unclear up until the day of the show whether we’re going to play or not, and if so, under what circumstances and conditions. To illustrate: we start the tour in Leipzig (Saxony) and want to continue to Wiesbaden (Hessen); Hessen decides to implement some or all of the available public and freedom-restricting measures due to the fall incidence; so, we can’t play in Wiesbaden. The bus is standing, the team and band are spreading their butts in frustration, we can burn the tour shirts and nobody knows whether Hamburg, Munich or Berlin will also call out possible corona measures from now on later to save us all. We now know how quickly things can go wrong in the clubs, halls and theatres.

It must not be that we, the band and team and fans, have survived three years of madness just to have our necks broken now, in the third Corona winter; we are responsible for a lot of people and companies who rely on everything being guaranteed to work the way it has to. A great tour for you and us requires a top team. We can consider ourselves lucky to have found a top team over the decades. And we cannot, do not want and will not endanger this top team, these friends and colleagues, whose moral and financial fate is very closely linked to ours, by taking incalculable risks. If it goes wrong, then the entire community of destiny goes to the dogs. That’s not an option!

To make it very clear:

When the band and crew get on the buses and the trucks roll off with the equipment, there’s no going back. The calculation is done, the planning is done, the contracts are made, the machine is running. It no longer matters whether the trucks are driving or not, whether the stage, the merch stand, the catering is set up or not, whether the band is playing or not. If the halls cannot be used because the conditions are unacceptable and the goals stay closed, then we foot the bill. The bigger the tour, the greater the risk. Enormous expenses arise that cannot be refinanced by anything; no state, no insurance, no nothing will help. Then the EISBRECHER runs aground. That would be the end of the band. And if we go bankrupt, then many of our service companions and long-standing colleagues and friends get it too. That can’t be the way; it has nothing to do with daring and heroism when you throw yourself and others into the abyss. We want the best and safest solution for you and all our colleagues. Concerts without IF and BUT with the safe feeling that we can all have a safe feeling.

What do we do with the overall situation that we are all dissatisfied with? We make the best of it: We push! And you push along! For the third and last time! EISBRECHER word of honour!

The year 2022 has taught us that from the end of April to the end of September it is possible to play concerts the way it makes sense: Loud, full, direct, intense, skin to skin, person to person, a ‘the old normal’ island in the ‘new normal’ craze. Five months in which we can all celebrate together what defines us as a community: being different, standing together, respect, peace, love and music! We are coming hard, loud and clear over Germany in 2023, right after the Europe Tour. It will be cold in spring and early summer, guaranteed! All concert tickets already purchased remain valid!

We can understand anyone who returns their ticket because it’s just annoying, because it’s financially tight or because the new date collides with vacation, honeymoon or other commitments. We are happy about everyone who keeps their ticket because they can make it to June 2023 with us. Please never forget, especially in such sad and disappointing moments, that - just like you - we, the band and the team, are made of people who love music passionately. We, too have had tickets on the fridge for years, we also go to shows. If we were not passionate fans of loud and rousing music, we would not be on stage today. One conditionally affects the other. All of us together, in front of and on stage, create what we are all about: magical moments in which you feel comfortable as a person among people. Without this feeling, life would be very, very difficult for us; I think we are not alone in that; we think that many of you feel very similar.

Now it’s time to swallow the chunk and swallow it hard. If we can do it, then you can do it too and so we can stay together for another six months in anticipation. Finally, let me quote Karl Valentin: ‘Hopefully it won’t be as bad as it already is.’ With this in mind: stay remain, stay strong, stay true to yourself and to us. On cold! Your Eisboys”

PS: “Please refrain from talking about the sense and nonsense of the measures here, let alone making us responsible for political decisions. You are many, you are strong, you are loud; if you think that music, art, culture are just as important for the cohesion of a society, for life as air and love, then let those who think they are acting on your behalf know. ’It's still we, the people, right?’ (Megadeth). We are all asked!”
