Dark, forward-thinking music with an attitude in one of the world’s most fascinating cultural locations, the legendary, natural Cave of Balve (“Balver Höhle”) in the heart of Germany. Prophecy Fest in the label’s 25th anniversary year is proudly announcing a birthday party and opening ceremony on Thursday, September 9. Prophecy Fest can also gladly announce that the festival’s hygiene concept has again been approved by the competent authorities and is in correspondence with the latest “Corona regulation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia” from August 17. Prophecy Fest is therefore still on course to take place under the current Coronavirus Act effective until September 17.They are working at full steam on the running order for Friday and Saturday, September 10/11 and will inform you about the complete programme as soon as possible. On Thursday, September 9, PROPHECY FEST will celebrate the 25th anniversary of PROPHECY PRODUCTIONS in style with an outdoor birthday bash at a location within walking distance to the Cave of Balve and the camping area. The label will provide free beer and free food as long as stocks last - but you will also be allowed to bring your own beverages and snacks. It is impossible to have a proper bonfire without acoustic music, which will kindly be provided courtesy of NEUN WELTEN, VRÎMUOT as well as MOSAIC and ZWISCHENLICHTEN performing “Nordwald Music”.
Covid-19-restrictions by the authorities mandate that all party guests will have to wear their official festival wristbands in order to attend. Prophecy Fest will therefore open the booths to exchange tickets for festival wristbands on Thursday 9 as early as 12.00 at noon to avoid queues. Martin Koller comments: “We sincerely hope that everybody is looking forward to the Prophecy Production birthday party on the Thursday of the festival as much as we do”, says the label founder. “It has been extremely difficult to create a final running order due to the many complications created by the pandemic. Thankfully cooperation and communications with the local competent authorities have been excellent and most helpful. We are working hard to present you with the final programme as soon as possible. In the meantime, we ask you for you understand in this difficult situation and a little more patience.”
In additional news, the competent authorities have updated their pandemic requirements for visitors. The most important change for everybody who is not fully vaccinated or able to provide valid documentation of having recovered from an infection with Covid-19 is now legally required to present a valid negative Covid-19 PCR test (quick antigen tests are no longer sufficient) that is not older than 48 hours prior to the official festival start on Thursday, September 9 at 12:00 noon. Please note that Prophecy Fest 2021 is planning with visitor numbers as currently projected to be approved by local and federal authorities. At this time, a number of 999 passes has been allowed of which about 75% are already sold. If the attendance becomes restricted further due to official regulations at a later point in time, tickets will remain valid on the basis of first come, first served. Invalidated tickets will be reimbursed and other options including changing to a digital pass will also be made available.
PANDEMIC FAQ
What are the mandatory requirements for all visitors?
Please note that due to any changes in the course of the ongoing pandemic, the federal German government, the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, the local authorities of the Märkischer Kreis, and the community of Balve may at any time add new requirements or change already existing rules. The following mandatory rules will very likely apply in any given circumstance to entering the festival area and to the camping ground as well:
1. All visitors are required to either provide legal documentation of being fully vaccinated or valid documentation of having recovered from an infection with Covid-19 or attestation of a legally valid negative Covid-19 PCR test not older than 48 hours prior to the official start of the festival on Thursday, September 9 at 12.00 CEST.
2. As of the latest “Corona regulation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia” from August 17, quick tests are no longer valid. Please note that PCR tests may require up to 24 hours in advance until you will receive a result. We recommend to plan your timing carefully.
3. All visitors are required to register their personal data and the mandatory documentation. A registration link will be sent to all ticket-holders. All personal data will be protected by and subject to the European General Data Protection Regulation. Valid personal identification (passport, personal ID card) has therefore to be provided before entering the festival.
4. The wearing of medical face masks is voluntary and no longer mandatory since the latest update of the “Corona regulation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia” from August 17.
5. With the latest update of the state regulations, there are no restrictions on the number of visitors beyond the capacity of the cave. Despite this, we will keep the number of passes limited to 999 copies.
6. At the entrance, visitors will be checked for increased body temperatures that might indicate an infection. This will be carried out using infrared thermometers, which are contact free and only take a few seconds. If you are showing symptoms of an infections such as fever, please stay at home.
Please note that all measures described above with the exception of the temperature check are mandated by the German authorities and the festival promoters are legally required to enforce them.

Is Prophecy Fest safe?
The primary concern of Prophecy Fest is always to provide maximum safety and security to all visitors, artists, and crew alike. This is routinely ensured by coordinated measures in consultation with the responsible authorities both on a local and state level. In addition to regular safety plans regarding emergency services, fire brigades and evacuation plans, the added challenge of the global pandemic is demanding additional hygiene and health concepts. Visitors will be informed of all mandatory rules of conduct that may or may not include wearing of protective masks, PCR testing, social distancing, and other measures in regular updates in advance of the event.
What happens, if Prophecy Fest gets cancelled by the authorities?
In the event of a worst-case scenario of a complete cancellation of Prophecy Fest by local or federal authorities, ticket holder will be offered a variety of options. Tickets can be refunded. Alternatively, tickets can also be transferred to the next edition.
What happens, if visitor numbers get reduced by the authorities?
In this at present very hypothetical scenario, in which authorities demand a short-term reduction of visitor numbers, tickets will remain valid in order of purchase. Invalided tickets can be refunded or alternatively be transferred to the next edition. Ticket sales have already been reduced to less than 50% of the cave’s capacity to 999 copies in advance of the festival to prevent this scenario from happening.
What can I do?
There is no guarantee of a completely risk-free environment during a pandemic. We therefore like to ask all participants to follow hygiene and safety instructions to the letter and stay alert. Please make sure to stay healthy by checking the relevant regulations in advance and to act accordingly at the festival. Do not attend, if you notice symptoms related to the pandemic. Look out for yourselves as well as others. Be considerate and show respect to your fellow attendees, artists, crew, and official authorities. Please do not hesitate to consult with the local emergency services or inform security, if you notice health issues or other problems.

LOCATION & TRAVEL
Prophecy Fest was founded in 2015 and already sold out at the first edition. This singular event for dark and innovative music takes place in the Balver Kulturhöhle (“Balve culture cave”) in the Hönnetal (“Valley of Hönne”) near the town of Balve in the Sauerland region of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The naturally formed karst cave has been used by humans already during the palaeolithic age. It is an important archaeological site that yielded remains from many periods up and until medieval times. According to legend and the old Icelandic Thidreksaga, the mythical blacksmith Wayland learned his magical trade from dwarven masters in this cave. The gravity of its history and the special acoustics of the Balver Cave provide a unique atmosphere that fits perfectly with the musical programme of the Prophecy Fest.
