aliceinchains rainierfogAmerican multi-platinum rockers announce their first album in 5 years! ‘Rainier Fog’ will be released on 24th August, the single ‘So Far Under’ is also now available and the worldwide headlining tour starts tomorrow.

‘Rainier Fog’, the long-awaited album by ALICE IN CHAINS, will be released on August 24th, with which the US rockers will present their first new material for more than five years. The second prelude track, ‘So Far Under’, presents an opportunity now to convince yourself of the magnitude of this album. ‘So Far Under’ is the sequel to the recently released ‘The One You Know’ whose video clip was produced by Adam Mason and has already generated more than 2.3 million views.

Both advance tracks are already available as instant downloads when pre-ordering the album ‘Rainier Fog’. The album will be available as a download, as well as a CD and as a double LP. As singer and guitarist William DuVall himself says about the new single release ‘So Far Under’: “The song describes the feeling of revolting against something with all your heart. The situation of standing with your back to the wall, fighting against windmills and to be really eaten up by it. The text was inspired by some personal experiences, but also by the happenings out there in the world right now. But the situation is not as hopeless as it seems. Although the text describes a cold, hard reckoning with a difficult situation, it also carries an important message. There is always a chance to change the situation for the better. I’ll remember every step in the creation of this song as a wonderful experience - from the guitar solos in Studio X in Seattle to the later overdubs with Nick Raskulinecz at his studio in rural Tennessee. Everyone in the band and indeed the whole studio team have gone beyond their limits to deliver a great piece of work. We are very proud of this song and of course the whole album!”

The recording of ‘Rainer Fog’ marks some important premieres for the band: it is the first new studio material for over five years. Furthermore, the Americans deliver their very first disc for BMG and have been recording back in their home town of Seattle for the first time in over twenty years (little info in passing: The album title ‘Rainier Fog’ is to be understood as a tribute to the rainy grunge metropolis in the northwest of the United States). The album was created in Studio X; the same place where their self-titled 1995 album was recorded. At that time the studio was still known as Bad Animals. More recordings were made at the Henson Studios in Los Angeles and in the studio of producer Nick Raskulinecz in Nashville, with whom the band worked together for the third time. Joe Barresi (QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, TOOL) is responsible for the mix.

With ‘Rainier Fog’, ALICE IN CHAINS deliver the sequel to their Grammy-nominated 2013 album ‘The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here’, which reached # 2 in the Billboard Top 200, and a sensational 1st place on the Billboard Alternative Album Chart, Top Rock Album and Hard Rock Album Charts as well as the iTunes Rock Charts. The first two single releases ‘Stone’ and ‘Hollow’ each went straight to # 1 on the Billboard mainstream rock track charts, while the 3rd single ‘Voices’ reached #3. All three singles were over 20 weeks in the charts.
